Choking like a chicken on a human bone
Feathered to the tar that leads me home
Early worms squirt between my toes
as I run across the road without reason

Cacciatore blues sizzle in my mind
Smokey, cracked mirrors warp the pantomine
I risk my a-la-king swallowing swords,
and when I'm not burnin', I'm freezin'

I am Rock and Roll Chicken Houdini
Magician, musician, alarming all who see me
I am a cock that rocks before disappearin',
live on center stage

She hears me crow
when her tender legs
roost upon my shoulders

She plucks me so
as I search for eggs
nestled in her folders

I love to peck
neck outstretched
Doodle-doo all I promised
I could do
Escape fire!
Create a spectacle!
Grasp that fat meaty moment
when drumroll and drumstick mesh

I am Rock and Roll Chicken Houdini
Too frisky to fricassee
Strum-strut with unchained love
that defies all illusions
