Love-quenched souls cannot hide
Our smiles mate and multiply
Emotional equations forever try
to apply a softer answer

It's not about whether wet sky is blue
for there is sunshine in each " I love you"
Your heart knows when my soul's askew
You are my life preserver

Without you I am stone,
crushing seeds
that may have grown
Without you, only stone,
caring not
where I am thrown

We grind our love and grasp hot sparks
Weave threads of light through quilted dark
We've made no twins but we have built an ark,
in case we flood this world

It's not about stretching to touch the stars,
or if Venusian curves can conquer Mars
You share your breath to give me cause,
I rise to glimpse your answer

Without you I am stone,
hardened flesh
on mirthless bone
Without you, only stone,
a barren, desolated Mars,
mourning my lost ozone
